A side-draft cooler discharges through one side. Measure the outlet, duct, brackets, and full cabinet so the cover closes securely without rubbing or leaving gaps.
Problem: The Cover Catches on the Side Outlet
Side-draft describes the direction of conditioned-air discharge. The outlet or connected duct is on one side of the cabinet, while intake louvers may occupy several other panels. A generic rectangular cover can snag on the outlet, ride above the lower louvers, or rub against a wall bracket.
Solution: Measure the Outlet and Cabinet Separately
Identify the discharge side first, then record the maximum cabinet dimensions and every connection that changes the outline.
- Measure the side outlet or duct width, height, projection, and position
- Include motor housings, disconnect boxes, wall brackets, and pipework
- Place the hem below the lowest intake opening without blocking a fixed duct connection
- Use split seams, closures, or custom cut-outs where the cover must pass around supports
Still Gaps at Corners?
Remeasure maximum outside width, depth, and height—pad dimensions are smaller than the cabinet. Confirm that the quoted pattern includes the outlet side and mounting method, not only the three cabinet measurements.
