Down Draft Swamp Cooler Covers

1 min read

Rain sitting on top of the unit, or top intake still open? Down-draft cabinets need a wide, low cover with a reinforced top — sides alone are not enough.

Problem: Water Pools or Top Intake Exposed

Down-draft units pull air through the top deck. Sides are mostly solid. A side-draft cover leaves the primary intake open and may sag in the middle — rainwater pools instead of running off.

Solution: Down-Draft Profile + Drainage

  • Wide, low cover shape — top panel is the critical seal
  • Reinforced top for rain and snow load in open yards
  • Tighten straps so the top crowns slightly — water runs to edges, not into louvers
  • Confirm outlet duct clearance before ordering — depth must clear roof connections

Open Yard Storage

Add tie-downs on exposed sites. Re-tension after the first storm — a sagging top is the main cause of pooled water and interior rust.
