Custom Cover Materials: What to Specify

Fabric failed in one season, or covers sit in a wet yard? Pick 600D PU, vinyl, mesh, or insulated based on how the unit is stored — not catalog default.

Problem: Wrong Fabric for Storage Conditions
Cheap fabric fades and tears at caster contact points in one Southwest summer. Mesh used as a winter cover lets cold air straight through. Spec the fabric to your worst storage condition, not average weather.
Solution: Pick by Condition
- Dry equipment yard, winter shutdown → 600D polyester + PU coating (default)
- Rain/snow load on top, coastal or rooftop → vinyl-coated polyester
- Idle in summer dust, unit still needs airflow → mesh (in-season only)
- Freezing yard, months outdoors after full drain/dry → insulated liner option
Lock the Spec for Reorders
Record material code and color on the PO template. Mixed specs across a fleet means some units fail early while others last — procurement cannot troubleshoot fabric in the field.
